-Mirassou $
This hits with an immediate smell of sour and a deep cherry. A slight woody taste as well. It almost has a carbonated body, and seems to have a similar texture of bubbles in the mouth. Tasting this again after the Steele was actually an improvement. It could have been the booziness of the Steele making the Mirassou seem smoother. In addition, there is an addition of a jammy flavor. But this could be because of the cheese that was introduced.
-La Crema $$
The La Crema had the same cherry smell but not as deep. There is also a slight citrus or grass smell, with a little bit of cat pee. The taste is a a bit more boozy, and has a longer stay in the mouth. The body is a little bit heavier than the Mirassou. On the second pass, the Crema also seems smoother.
-Steele $$$
The smell of the Steele has a similar cherry hint, but seems to be almost richer than the last two. There is also a stemy smell. The taste reinforces this earthy, rooty, hint from the smell. The taste also seems to be very boozy, but not as much as the Crema. There is also a berry taste that was not present in the past two. It seems to be a lot sweeter on the second pass, and a lot smoother. It seems to have a more complex flavor profile as well, almost deeper.
There did not seem to be a difference in the effect that an hour or so made on the glasses. Each one filled out a little more, as far as I could remember from the past sixty minutes.
Overall I feel like I could taste the "quality" of the Steele over the other two, but I liked the Crema considerably more than the other two. I know that the lesson is supposed to teach the opposite, but in this case the considerable differnce in price from the Crema to the Steele was not worth it to me. If they had cost the same, I would still be buying La Crema in the future. The Mirassou was borderline un-buyable, and reminded me a lot of franzia. While the La Crema was the booziest in taste, the Mirassou's taste reminded me of the jammy sensation from cheap cheap cheap bagged wine.
